~ Giving Back Initiatives ~
I love helping people - why? Because it makes a difference in my own life. It gives me purpose, identity, a feeling of connection with other
I know that I am here for a reason - to give of my talents and abilities that God gave me, and to do so in a way that benefits them and me. I help them accomplish a goal in their life, and find more success, and I am happy to be the reason and continue to help if needed. I get referrals from students because they see I care about them and know I can help others.
But I am not here just to make a living, I am here to make a LIFE. I am dedicated to finding ways to help that don't always reward me financially, but help others through volunteering my time, talents and energy. If I take my eyes off my own needs, and help others, I appreciate what I have and what I can give them, and feel better about my own life, no matter what struggles I am facing.
Sometimes that is local - working with organizations that are making a difference in SO many lives in the Triangle area and are giving back to the community in so many ways. Those I have supported and am supporting this year and moving forward.
Sometimes that is working to help others get on their feet financially and give them a hand up, not just a hand out.
Ministry News - I am working with the International Refugee Ministry at The Point Church in Cary, where their Care Ministry does just that - they give clothes, groceries and English (ESL) lessons on Saturday nights - that's where I volunteer with others to teach them this valuable skill.
2019 - I am also teaching monthly in the Culture Class, which happens every week before the ESL class, to teach those new to the U.S. how to understand how we "do" things here in America, our culture and customs :)
I also am available to tutor refugees and others in need on a discounted basis as needed. Let me know if I can help :)
